The following three members have been instrumental in allowing the Racine Kenosha Builders Association to remain strong in the last 50 years. These three members have many things in common. #1 being their dedication they have given the association over the years. These members have been around to see the several of stages of the association, from the beginning to making sure to where we are today.

Year after year they have chaired and sat on committees that would allow the association to grow leaps and bounds. They have all supported community projects not just through the association but when ever asked by others. The Builders Park and the Outpost center are just two that they were involved in through the association. These three members also support the association’s events and goals.

Darrey Construction

As a charter member of the association, Darrey Construction was elected to our first Board of Directors as Vice-president on January 14th, 1958. Throughout the last 50 years they have served on the board of directors numerous times, serving the board as president four times. Generations later, John Darrey had a vision that we needed our own home. Through years of hard work and all of the determination RKBA now has their own home. John Darrey is now part-time retired but continues to support the association in all that he does. He makes a 3 hour drive each month to attend our board meeting where he continues to serve as our Builder Director.

Joining the association in the late 1960’s Erwin "Buck" Sweet needed no time in putting both hands into the association. Not only was Buck president of the association 4 times, he has been a local, state and National Director representing the association. In 1971 Buck received his 6d spike award for his efforts in recruiting members. To date Perma has over 300 spike points and their affiliate memberships have a total of 24 spike points. Buck was instrumental in 1968 in getting Kenosha into our Jouristication. In the later part of 1968 National approved the Home Builders of Racine County to be changed to the Racine Kenosha Builders Association. The passion that Buck had for the association has been installed into his daughter. Patti, at one time served as EO. Being Past President of the association 5 times, Patti continues to serve on our board of directors and continues to represent us at state for the last 10 years. Buck is missed by all that knew him but we are lucky to have Buck’s enthusiasium with us in his daughter.
